My name is Hayley and I created Daily Dose of Darling, a personal style, home decor, and beauty blog. My hope is to share with others the things and moments in life that make me the happiest, while creating an inspirational space that welcomes all personal style. unnamed

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your background?I’ve been blogging on Daily Dose of Darling for about a year now and have loved every second of it! Being able to collaborate with some amazing brands and meet many inspiring people along the way has only encouraged me in sharing my journey with personal style, home decor, and beauty. I just moved to Los Angeles with my boyfriend Doug from Orange County and so far, exploring LA has been incredible! My hope is to share with others the things and moments in life that make me the happiest, while creating an inspirational space that welcomes all personal style.

If you could sneak into anyone’s closet whose would you peek at? I’d like to bend the rules on this question and say Betty Draper from Mad Men. For as long as I can remember I’ve been infatuated with the 1950s and everything that goes along with the era. The fashion, picturesque way of life, and overall classical elements has me smitten. I’ve really grown up aspiring to embrace my femininity and with that come timeless structures, colorful pieces, and a ladylike appearance that Betty always emulates.

What style rule do you always follow? Just because something is “on trend” doesn’t mean it is suitable for everyone. I’ve learned this the hard way and its clear when you look back at some of my original blog posts in 2013. Wear what you feel most comfortable in and your personal style will come as a natural extension of that.

What is your favorite quote?“The more you believe in your own ability to succeed, the more likely it is that you will.” -Shawn Achor

What inspired your blog? I wanted people to come to a place where charm, beauty, and femininity come to life. To take aspects of each of our lives and make them something that we are proud of is a thrilling and exciting endeavour we should all strive for. For many people that could mean different things, but for me, it’s through indulging in the little things that make me the happiest: fashion, lifestyle, home decor, and beauty.

Three things that are always in your purse? Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream, Rimmel Stay Matte Powder, and a camera of course! gallery-wall-1

Where do you find inspiration for blog posts? I love to find inspiration through looking back to different eras in time.Ever since I was a little girl my style has been feminine. I probably only wear jeans when the weather is cold and it’s absolutely necessary, but other than that, my closet if filled with floral print dresses, high waisted skirts, and lace. I think the biggest way my style has evolved is that I’m not as quick to follow trends as I used to be. I now take certain pieces from each era and make them my own. I am more inclined to look for pieces that have a certain feminine flare that make them truly unique, rather than what celebrity wore it last on the red carpet or to buy groceries.

Best style advice you’ve ever given or received? Wear what you feel most confident in and what flatters your body shape the best and you’ll look like a million bucks.

What’s the one thing in your closet that you couldn’t live without? This was truly a tough question to answer because there are so many pieces I can’t let go of. For many it’s a memory tied to a particular dress or a pair of shoes you’ve walked miles in, but for me it has to be my favorite scarf my friend got for me in Paris. It’s not just an ordinary scarf. I swear it has magical powers. Every time I have worn it in the past, something good has come of out that day. I’ve aced two job interviews in it, met my current boyfriend, and have countless other memorable encounters. I try not to wear it too much though, so the luck doesn’t run out!

In your opinion, what separates a great blog from an unsuccessful blog? Being able for a blogger to truly find their voice, which is still hard for me to this day separates a great blog from an unsuccessful one. So many blogs are trying to become the next best thing and often times it comes through in their posts. Looking at other bloggers for inspiration is great, but find what makes you unique and expose that as much as possible.

4 Bikini Trends Coming This Summer

With the heat wave hitting Los Angeles right now, it already feels like Summer so we’re getting you ready with the top four bikini trends we’re going to be seeing this coming Summer season. Get your towels ready it’s time to head to the beach!

1. Sports Bra Bikini Tops: For all those that love wearing sports bras versus then a normal bra, then you’re in luck for this summer season. The new trend this year is having the sports bra look in the front with a criss-cross back, making a simple bathing suit quite trendy.

2. The Crop Top: This is personally one of our favorites. We saw maybe one bathing suit in this style last season but its really blown up this year. The bikini features delicate macramé, crochet, and mesh on the high neck bikini top styles alongside bright flashes of color

3. Tribal Prints: Another trend that is on the rise is tribal prints. It seems like almost every bathing suit now is patterned. Zigzag lines and dots, geometric designs, and ethnic patterns are all coming to the party in this tribal print bathing suit trend.

We’re so excited to share Rachel Broas of Simply Poised! Her love and passion for fashion are one of the many reasons we can’t get enough of this blog. Plus we couldn’t agree more with her philosophy that truly the best thing you can wear is confidence and wearing what you love, not what everyone else is wearing. Today she is sharing with us her favorite color trends that we will be seeing a lot of in Spring! Read more about Rachel and Simply Poised here

One of the best ways to be prepped for the upcoming season’s trends and styles is to be in the know with the Pantone colors of the spring. Pantone colors are known around the world through designers, retailers, and manufactures, in order to communicate the chosen colors of the season. Knowing Spring 2015’s color palette will allow you to be creative with the clothes you already have, keep an eye out for the key color clothes to come and mix & match different color combinations that maybe you haven’t before.

This season is a collection of neutrals, muted brights, and softer colors. Be on the look out for:

  • Lucite Green – A rare minty shade that is extremely light. I love this shade for spring, especially in scarves and dresses.unnamed
  • Marsala – The Pantone Color of the year, inspired by a rich wine is also extremely earthy with the reddish-brown tint. This has grown to be one of my favorite colors this year, its earthly yet tasteful tone allows for it to play extremely well with skin tones and hair colors.unnamed-1
  • Dusk Blue- This calm shade of blue resembles the serenity that is supposed to be paired with the sky. It comes into play very well with the lighter denim for spring.unnamed-2
  • Glacier Gray- This light gray plays well with other colors but holds its own ground. I love to pair this shade with lights denims and Marsala.
  • Custard- This mellow yellow shade is meant to be relaxing and a great color to pair with darker denims like the classic blue. I think yellows are often hard to wear if you’re not extremely tan but this tone allows for you to really play with it. unnamed-3

The Do’s and Don’ts on St. Patrick’s Day 2015

DO NOT: Get gimmicky and wear something you would be embarrassed to put on the other 364 days of the year. This applies equally to tuxedo fronts and puking leprechauns.

DO: carry a green clutch or bag in order to avoid getting the green pinch, it can also provide you with the perfect color pop to compliment your outfit.

DO NOT: wear green on everything single outfit piece. If you insist on being dressed in green from head to toe, mix it up with having different shades of green to create a more chic look.

DO: remember to pinch everyone else who isn’t wearing some sort of green! You have worked very hard to incorporate it into your outfit, so feel free to get your pinching fingers ready for those less prepared!
