Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your background? I am Sindi Arifi, I am 21 years old and I come from Switzerland.

I am a super-passionate woman : fashion, beauty, healthy lifestyle and music are essential to my life. I always wanted to create my own blog to have the possibility to share my passion to everyone.

I started to work in the fashion industry when I was 19 years old. I was elected Miss Switzerland Romande 2014 and I signed to a model agency. I walked for Salvatore Ferragamo, Flavio Castellani, Hervé Léger and other brands. I met a lot of people in the industry : it was my first contacts with fashion and I wanted to go further.

I was finalist at Miss Switzerland 2016, which was a great opportunity to launch my blog. So I did it in September 2015 and everything went very fast. My visibility and KARVAIN grew up day by day and I still can’t believe where I am today. There’s a team with me for the blog : Thomas Masotti, the photographer + graphic designer, and my sister, Suzana Arifi, is managing everything. My mailbox is getting crazy! Many brands contact me from Switzerland and other countries. I just finished a big project with L’Oréal Professionnel Switzerland, which is one of the collaboration I’m proudest and happiest about.

I always believed in my dreams and I worked hard to make them happen. I can’t wait to see what the future will bring.

If you could sneak into anyone’s closet whose would you peek at?  Well, I do not have like « my favorite fashionista ». It always changes as I follow a lot of people. But I have to say that at the moment, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is a stunner. Her style is simple, so chic and very trendy.

What style rule do you always follow? « Rule » is not a word that I assimilate with « style ». I simply wear what I want. My style depends on my mood. I like to keep it chic and simple, with some details which are making the difference. Edgy, effortless, and casual are my motto.

What is your favorite quote? It’s difficult to me to say just one quote. I believe is so many things and I’m motivated with a lot of different quotes. If I pick up the one that is on my head right now, I would say : if you can dream it, you can do it.

I always had big dreams since I was young. Dreams that scare me everytime, because they are really big. And they are the reason of my fire in my stomach. They push me out of my comfort zone to make them come true and even if I’m afraid, I always believe that I can do it. I work hard and I make all the possible to make it happen.

What inspired your blog? I’ve always been a very creative person. I loved expressing myself in different ways, whether it is fashion, music, or dancing. I need to express myself, to share my passions and to do it with love. So yes, my passions definitely inspired my blog. Good vibes, good energy, big dreams and a lot of fun : all of this is concentrated in my blog.

Three things that are always in your purse? My phone (I mean, what could I do without it?!), a bottle of water to keep me hydrated and my lipstick of the day.

Where do you find inspiration for blog posts? When I’m writing a blog post, I just feel it. It is something that I really want to share and of course, it’s related with my personal life. If I have a big crush on something for fashion or beauty, if I discover something new or if I simply want to share a recipe I just made, then I share it. The most important to me is that I stay true to myself and to write down what I really think.

Best style advice you’ve ever given or received? Whatever you are wearing, the most important is how you feel, inside. If you’re happy, you’re will make any outfit looks gorgeous!

What does fashion mean to you? It’s a way to express myself. To show my mood, how I feel and what I love. It is something really personal, an expression of one’s inner self. This is the reason why I don’t like to « follow rules ». I just follow my heart.

In your opinion, what separates a great blog from an unsuccessful blog? You have to love, really love what you’re doing. If you put passion in something, the result is always amazing. The second thing, I think it’s important to keep a close contact with the readers. Personnaly, I’ve built a real relationship with them as I share everything about me. Of course, there’s also the pictures. Good pictures catch the eyes. Thomas Masotti always knows how to capture things and make them even more beautiful. To me, a successful blogger is able to use the influence and impact to actually spread a positive message around them.

Cutoff Shorts for Summer

With the summer heat here to stay, we know that we have to adjust our wardrobe. Although fashion is constantly evolving and there’s no doubt that rompers are in, nothing can ever beat a classic T-shirt and shorts. Denim cutoffs will never be out, as choosing the right pair and rocking them with the perfect top can really up your style game.

The key to the right outfit is choosing the right denim. It’s no secret that vintage and hipster looks are trending right now. This major trend is clearly influencing our choice in denim. This season, you’ll want to make sure you’re choosing high-waisted, light-washed cutoffs.

Show off your cutoffs by adding some style to your shirt. Your shorts aren’t just a foundation, but can also be the staple of your outfit. Whether you tie your shirt or tuck it in, make sure you draw attention to your shorts and show them off.

Lastly? Denim on denim is key. Add a denim jacket or find a cool denim tank. This look cannot be beat and will show the onlookers that you put effort into your day.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your background?
I am 27 years old and currently work as an HR Manager at an advertising agency in Orange County. I grew up in Orange County, made my way to San Francisco for university and then to Los Angeles after I graduated. After a 3-year stint in LA, I moved to South Korea for 9 months to teach while travelling. I came back to LA after Korea and in 2015 I moved back home to the beautiful Orange County. Whenever I have time I’m with my friends or puppy, Shaquille (my boyfriend is a huge Lakers fan). My friends and I are usually eating, at Disneyland or eating at Disneyland. We love food and Disney.

If you could sneak into anyone’s closet whose would you peek at?
This is such a hard question. Probably Aimee Song (@songofstyle) or Irene Kim (@ireneisgood). Aimee’s wardrobe is so timeless and versatile, what I love is that she stays with the trends without losing her individual style or overdoing it. Her wardrobe is perfection. I’m obsessed with Irene Kim. She’s like the Kendall Jenner of Korea. She has such an edgy street style which she pulls off so effortlessly. I swear there isn’t a thing this girl can’t wear. I feel like a lot of my “edgier” outfit choices are inspired by Irene. I even had rainbow hair for a hot minute—of course inspired by her, it’s like her trademark look!

What style rule do you always follow?
If you like it, you can rock it. I go to Korea twice a year and I always come back with a new wardrobe. Seoul Street Fashion is a genre of its own. The girls in Korea put together outfits that look so cool and what’s crazy is that if I picked up the pieces separately at a store you’d think I was crazy trying to piece them together. But the girls in Korea do it anyways… They wear the clothes and don’t let the clothes wear them. I think all my trips to Seoul have given me the courage to be braver with my wardrobe.

What is your favorite quote?
“Leave a little room for the unimaginable.” I am a very calendar oriented person. It’s good and bad. I’m the friend that sends out an iCal invite for dinner or vacations. I’ve come to learn that not everything fits into a schedule and that you need to leave a little room for the unexpected.

What inspired your blog?
I am lucky to have a tribe of such inspiring women who support each other in all our endeavours besides me. I “officially” launched my blog last August, but before that I’d do Instagram outfit posts. For years my girlfriends have been pushing me to blog and do beauty tutorials and finally I did it. A huge hesitation I had with starting a blog was that I’m not rich (if I’m being blunt). I didn’t think I could stand out against these other amazing bloggers who have Celine or Chanel in every other post. But when I started noticing my social media followers asking me where I got my bargain outfits, that’s when it clicked for me. I wanted to create a place for my followers to go and see exactly what I am wearing, where I got it and a direct link to buy.

Three things that are always in your purse?
My iPhone, whatever lip color I’m wearing that day and probably a tie between my camera and a back up iPhone battery.

Where do you find inspiration for blog posts?
I find inspiration all around me. Wether it be from other bloggers, runway models or the everyday girl I see at the mall. I try and find ways to recreate outfits I like at an affordable price. Fashion shouldn’t be something that only the wealthy can enjoy.

Best style advice you’ve ever given or received?
My best friend Amanda (www.feastfashionfaves.com) always tells me that it doesn’t matter that we can’t afford designer brands because we have individual style and know how to rock an outfit wether it be a $12 dress from Forever21 or a $500 dress from Bloomies.

What does fashion mean to you?
For me fashion is a way to express yourself… it’s your identity. You get to be creative in your outfit choices and how you style them. Fashion is a way for you to show the world who you. I’ve also found that fashion is something that connects us. I have been lucky to meet some great people through my blogging endeavours and something we all have in common is fashion.

In your opinion, what separates a great blog from an unsuccessful blog?
I wouldn’t call my blog great or unsuccessful but it is genuine. I see my blog as a passion project. It’s something I love to do and it helps me escape the stresses of my day-to-day. There are however unsuccessful blogs out there and in my opinion they are unsuccessful because they are doing it for the wrong reasons. Ever since the career of “blogger” or “influencer” erupted you see thousands and thousands of people trying to be a blogger because if you are successful you can make a boat load of money off it. I feel like when you do anything motivated by money, you don’t do it for the right reasons and that’s why you’re unsuccessful. What you’re putting out there isn’t genuine and you come off so transparent.

If you could sneak into anyone’s closet whose would you peek at?
Definitely Carry Bradshaw! I love high heels and anything with tulle. When it comes to style I like to think outside the box and I feel she best illustrates that.

What style rule do you always follow?
I don’t follow any style rules. In my opinion fashion does not have rules.

What is your favorite quote?
“Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world.” -Marylin Monroe

What inspired your blog?
I loved fashion and at one point I thought to myself I have so many beautiful clothing items, which are not super expensive so why not start my own blog and inspire others. My blog demonstrates how to be unique and fun without breaking the bank.

Three things that are always in your purse?
Lipstick, hand lotion and my cell phone

Where do you find inspiration for blog posts?
Truthfully my closet inspires my looks. I try to be unique in what I wear so all I do is look inside my closet and think of what can be fun for today and beyond. I find that style is a creation of your own persona and no one can really inspire my style but myself.

Best style advice you’ve ever given or received?
Be yourself.

What does fashion mean to you?
Fashion is so much more than just clothes. It is a way you communicate without saying a single word. It is how other people see you or how you want to be seen by others. What I love most about fashion is that you can dress depending on your mood. One day I feel like wearing heels the other days I grab my sneakers.

In your opinion, what separates a great blog from an unsuccessful blog?
The difference between a successful and an unsuccessful blog is the passion and effort you put into writing and creating the content. If you start a blog only to get free things you will end up being unsuccessful. In my opinion you should start at blog because you love what you do and you wanting to inspire others. A blog should be built for the gain of others and not your own.
