Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your background?
My name is McKenna. I am a teacher and live outside of New Orleans, Louisiana with my husband. It really is a fabulous place to grow up with all the good food, live music and no shortage of craziness! My dad owns men’s clothing stores here in Louisiana and growing up around classic, high quality clothing has definitely influenced the way I look at fashion.
If you could sneak into anyone’s closet whose would you peek at?
Most definitely Blake Lively’s closet. I mean her style is always on point.
What style rule do you always follow?
I’m not much for rules, I feel as though fashion is unique to the individual and if you feel great in an outfit then by all means wear it! With that being said, certain fabrics should be worn only in their proper seasons, like linen in the summer.
What is your favorite quote?
Audrey Hepburn’s “The happiest girls are the most beautiful girls.” What a great reminder that beauty is on the inside.
What inspired your blog?
First of all, I’ve always loved clothes and like I mentioned earlier growing up with a dad that always looked like he stepped out of a magazine inspired me to explore my own sense of personal style. Second, I’m a teacher and as much as I adore my little students blogging is a great creative outlet to connect with so many women and allow my creativity to grow outside the classroom.
Three things that are always in your purse?
My wallet, hand cream, and phone of course!
Where do you find inspiration for blog posts?
Best style advice you’ve ever given or received?
My dad’s motto is “Quality is economy.” He repeated that all the time to us growing up and the older I have gotten I really do appreciate quality made clothing, shoes and accessories. It might cost a bit more to buy the higher end item but it will outlast all the fast fashion and hold up for years to come. In the end you save money by investing in quality pieces that are not going to fall apart after one season.
What’s the one thing in your closet that you couldn’t live without?
My Equipment silk blouse. It is the perfect piece to dress up or down and layer on top of.
In your opinion, what separates a great blog from an unsuccessful blog?
I’ve only been blogging for almost a year, but consistency has to be one of the biggest aspects to keep your audience engaged and coming back.
